Professionalism and Partnerships for Development

Project Cycle

Committed to the sustainability and results of our impact, CODESPA adopts a rigorous standard of professionalism in its project management, focusing on tracking progress and obtaining measureable results in the economic empowerment of the poor.

Further, CODESPA works to address the limitations and isolation of the poor through a holistic approach to economic development that focuses on forging the right strategic partnerships for creating innovative solutions to complex problems.

  • We draw on the experience of over 100 dedicated professionals around the world from a wide range of specializations and on extensive networks of local and international expertise.
  • We work with public and private sector organizations, local, national and international, to devise tailored solutions to the obstacles confronting the poor.
  • We learn from our partners and seek to instill in local partners and public actors the energy and capacity to design and carry out new initiatives when our project work is completed.

Partnership Opportunities

CODESPA has a long history of working with business groups, private organizations, non-profit institutions, local partners and government authorities.

In particular, we actively seek the involvement of private sector businesses for:

  • Finance and Expertise:
    contributing to projects, events, publications and institutional development.
  • Corporate Volunteering:
    participating in programs whereby their employees can contribute to project design and project work.
  • Inclusive Supply Chain Development:
    working with CODESPA to incorporate the poor into their supply chains and alleviate poverty in their areas of operation.
  • Social Entrepreunership:
    becoming intimately involved in designing products and services that foster rural market development and low-cost technology adoption.

In the past, our cooperation with businesses has included:

  • Hosting of the bi-annual "CODESPA Awards" in recognition of innovative programs in Corporate Social Responsibility.
  • Bringing employees from La Caixa into volunteer roles for the professional formation and business planning needs of the poor.
  • Transforming remittances into savings and investments through new micro-financial products and providing financial education with BBVA subsidiary, Banco ADOPEM.
  • Working with Carrefour in Ecuador to incorporate poor farmers into their supply chains for the sale of products in Spain.

Research and Innovation

Knowledge Management

Our 30 years of experience has led us to produce an extensive range of research products that systematize our experience and analyses, for our own improvement and for those interested in learning and adapting our methods. All freely accessible through FundaciĆ³n CODESPA's webpage, these include publications, technical notes, case studies, and methodologies for:

  • Establishing internal control processes for auditing, monitoring, and evaluating projects with a view to focusing development work on sustainable enterprise and employment solutions for the poor;
  • Systematizing lessons learned and technical notes for greater innovation in the design and implementation of future projects that create real economic opportunities in impoverished areas;
  • Creating public-private partnerships that foster the sustainability of development work and of new local initiatives so that communities may emerge as the protagonists in their own development.
